“And whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” Colossians 3:23
This is a verse that I memorized when younger, but as time
has waned, only had it “half-way” memorized. As I meditated on this verse, I
began to realize that I have never fully embraced the meaning of this verse. I
always thought of the “doing it heartily” part, but that is not the whole. As
believers, our tasks should be done “as to the Lord.” That means that when I
unload the dishwasher, I am not doing it for Mom; I am doing it for the Lord.
When I rebel against helping my sister make her bed, my attitude isn’t against
her but against the Lord. This puts a new perspective on my work. I should view
every task as an opportunity to show my love and obedience to Christ (John
14:15).

My verse for this week is from Proverbs chapter four verse twenty three.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
And as I failed to post my verse for last week which was Jeremiah 31:3, here it is - “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”
I love these two verses!!

@Kelly
I like your verse selection. As I think about it, both of those verses are wonderful for us single women to cling to. Proverbs 4:23 challenges us to keep our hearts from wandering and Jeremiah 31:3 reminds us that NO love is as great as our heavenly Father's love!
Thank you for sharing with us.

Week 5:
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
Proverbs 10:12
Week 6:
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
Week 7:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Week 8:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But be brave! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
Week 9:
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Colossians 3:12-14
