“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever, Amen.”
1 Peter 4:11
As believers, we are all enlisted in God’s army. However,
God gives us different callings and places us in different ministries (“Now
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences
of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations,
but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the
Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7). There
are some things that you can do, that I cannot. Likewise, there are some things
that I can do that you cannot.
The key element that I found in this verse is the middle
phrase, “that GOD in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
It does not matter what ministry God places us in, or what abilities God gives
us, what matters is that we are using our time and talents for His glory!

Psalm 60:4
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth.
When I read this, it was like a battle call! In this aimless generation, God gives His people a cause worth fighting for--the cause of His kingdom, led by His Son, the Captain. He makes us like billboards for the truth. It's a dangerous thing to be a declarer of truth in this age when truth is unpopular, but it is a glorious thing too. We are all standard-bearers. Do we run--or do we stand?
This week, I continued my memory of Psalm 4 with verse 5, "Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord."
I posted some of the ways that this verse has spoken to me here:
