--1 of 52--

My first memory verse in this 52-verse challenge is one that God brought to my attention two days ago. I thought it very applicable for the beginning of a new year!

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye."
Psalm 32:8

What is your first memory verse this year? Feel free to comment with your first verse/post-URL for this challenge!!

Psalm 145:15-19
The eyes of all wait upon Thee and Thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest Thy hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and holy in His works. The Lord is nigh unto them that call upon Him, that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.

(Typed 99% from memory!)

I would have chosen just the last verse, but the previous verses seemed to enrich the context so well.

This passage speaks to me because it emphasizes God's provision. There are so many things that I desire and the Bible points out that He cares about our desires, as well as our needs, and that He answers those who trust Him. I know He doesn't always answer our desires with the answer that we want, but He always cares and every response He makes is righteous. He is truly the only God worth serving!

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

As a person who is easily overcome by anxiety and stress, this verse means so much to me. God can help me overcome any weakness, and this year I know He will continue to help me.

My first verse for the year is Phil 2:14 "Do all things without grumbling or questioning." If only I could make this a reality in my life...

I am starting with Ecclesiastes 3:11:
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

I chose Ephesians 1:4 for a devotion I'm doing.
"Just as He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love."

Typed 100% from memory! YAY!

God bless you!

A new year reminds me that I am a new creation in Christ...

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Love reading all your verses too. There are some new ones for me that will definitely be added to my list this year. :-)

Very excited to join you all in memorizing my verses this year.
Happy New Year!

"For if a man think himself to something, when he is nothing, he decieveth himself." Galatians 6:3

This verse really challenges me to be honest about myself before God and others. I know that sometimes I can make myself believe I am better or can do something that is not really what I am or am capable of truly, simply by talking too much about myself to God and others. How humbling to think I can make the mistake of being a deceiver...not only to myself, but to others!

I too, am very excited about what the Lord will show us all this year. Happy memorizing!!!

There are so many wonderful verses to memorize, and I have chosen this one for this week...

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to His grace which He lavishes upon us in all wisdom and insight."

Ephesians 1:7-8

Blessings,

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I'm joining this!! Thanks so much for hosting. I want to memorize Colossians 3 & 4 this year, so my verse for this week is Col. 3:1. I may post about this sooner or later. Thanks again for having this challenge! =)

I chose James 4:7 for my first verse.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

I chose this verse because I think we all need to{and sometimes} have a problem with submitting totally to Christ. When we submit to Christ, He will give us the strength to resist the devil.

This is wonderful! I look foward to participating in this challenge.

I chose Philippians 3:13-14; it seemed fitting to memorize for this first week of the new year--
"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

My verse for this week is John 15:18-19~

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

I picked this verse, actually, because I saw it on another blog post on Jan. 1 and thought that it really applied to me in this season of life! =) Thanks for much for having this challenge!

My first goal is to memorize Romans 5. I have already made it through the first eleven verses, so the verse this week was Romans 5:12,

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." (by memory)

Blessings on everyone who is doing this challenge!!

I chose several verses to memorise this week, most of which I'm already fairly familiar with and they've been ones God's been speaking to my heart lately. I've memorised:

John 3:30 -
"He must increase, but I must decrease."

Philippians 1:21 -
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

1 John 4:4 -
"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Galatians 2:20 -
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

2 Corinthians 5:7 -
"(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)"

2 Corinthians 1:20 -
"For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

Psalm 55:22 -
"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

Isaiah 26:3-4 -
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:"

(Yes, I do know all these verses from memory.)

Also, I'm working on 1 Peter 1:1-3 as part of the MOHL challenge, and Psalm 91, which is a favourite Psalm of mine. By God's grace, I've got Psalm 91:1-5 down.

My verse for this week was Psalm 73:25-26
"Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh, my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion"

These two verses really encourage me to remember that God is enough for me.

Memorizing has always been difficult for me....so I'm hoping with this challenge that I'll have success. My first verse is "I know O Lord that man's life is not his own, it is not for man to direct his steps. Jeremiah 23:11
Thank you again for opening this challenge to others. Carol Oliver
